Quilting Kits

If you are a complete quilting beginner, you might not have a clue where to start. Picking out your first pattern and fabrics can be a very overwhelming task if you have never done it before. This is where a quilting kit might come in. It is a way to help you make your quilt, and will take out a lot of the confusion.

What is a quilting kit you may ask? It’s usually a kit put together that has all of the materials you will need for your quilt. You will choose what you want to make - such as a baby quilt or queen size quilt, and then you can look at the pictures on the quilting kit, as they will show you what you will be making. Inside the kit you will find all of the fabrics you will need to use, as well as step-by-step instructions on how to make the quilt.

When you first start quilting, you might find it difficult to find fabrics that go together well, so this is one thing you won’t have to worry about with a kit. You will also have the correct amount of fabrics, so you don’t have to worry about that either. It makes it nice and easy to just buy one item, and be able to make your entire quilt from it.

Another nice thing about a quilting kit is that they are often themed. For example, not that long ago I saw a really nice Disney quilting kit. It had all of the fabrics, and most of them had Disney characters on them such as Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh. So if you were to buy that kit, you would have all of the materials you needed to make a Disney quilt for your child’s bed. If you were to do it on your own, you would have to first choose the patterns, and then go find all of the fabrics that you wanted, and depending on what your local stores had in stock, you might not be able to find as many Disney themed fabrics as you wanted.

As you can see, if you’re looking to take a few steps out of the quilting process, buying a quilting kit can really make it easier for you to start a quilt. You will still be making the entire quilt yourself, but all of the fabrics will be right in front of you.
